As you maybe know, yet, during springtime and summertime in 2018, we were in Bali. Bali is such a beautiful and energetic island in Indonesia. So energetic that you have to go deep inside the culture and the way Balinese people live life to understand it in its totality. And to bring with you some valuable lessons.
Yes… Of course, It is the land of incense, prayers, ceremonies, offerings, and massages.
But, according to us, every culture has its own particular ceremonies and traditions. The specific sign for Bali is that the streets have good smelling and many colors.
And, of course… The majority of people smile.
But what really touched us, there, was the slowness and to really know people, to talk to them. They are very welcoming, and at the same time, they have a profound respect for you.
Around may of that year, we were in Ubud, “the city into the jungle” as we love to call it.
We were in a homestay run by a family.
Closed to our room, “the grandpa” was building a so lovely chill out in bamboo, for the guests.
He told us: “You know, sometimes we have a group of people that want to have breakfast together. So this is for them, so they can enjoy breakfast in the same place.”
At the end of his daily work, he used taking a break, with a ginger tea, with his wife and, sometimes, with their grandson.
He saw that we are musicians and he was so glad to hear this. He often said to us to “feel free” to play as long as we want and to go up on the rooftop to watch the sunset that “it’s so beautiful!“
He worked in silence, smiling and breathing. Without any pressure. With love.
To spend some time in his presence, it was a chance to see that most of the time, words are so useless, and with a present glaze and calm in the body, you can communicate the more authentic things.
It came the time for us to leave that place to continue exploring the island.
The morning we left, he was in his bamboo chill out, and he understood we were going.
So he came towards us. We thank him for all, for the hospitality.
He stood in front of us with his smile on the face. He took our hands. He looked into our eyes, and he said to each one of us: “Be happy. Be healthy. Be safe.“
It was a highly emotional moment. Totally unexpected. We had no words to say, so we received that wish with so much gratitude in our hearts.
No recommendation from him but only trust in life, with this wish.
It was like: “You are the only one that knows what to do. So, when you do it, please remember to: Be happy. Be healthy. Be safe.”
With him, it was not a goodbye. It was the start of a deep connection, even if we are not in contact more. A so deep connection that inspired us to write a song: “RUN.” With this song, we desire to extend that wish to as many people as possible. To everyone wants to grab it.
So, once again: “Be happy. Be healthy. Be safe.”
Before ending this post, we want to invite you to watch the video of this song “RUN, under the tree live session” on our YouTube channel Nowhen.
There you can find many videos we do since the starting of our journey that we hope could inspire you. 🙏🏽
See you in the next article.
Ehi! Giulia & Alberto here. 👋🏼 We decided to write articles that are connected to our music to let you go deep inside some of the adventures we live and that inspire our songs. It won't be a space to explain songs. A song couldn't be explained but just listened with the hearth and with an open mind. Indeed, this Blog session is a way to create another connection with you by offering you the perspective from which we experience things. The invite is to not judge this with "right-wrong", "good-bad", "beautiful-horrible". Actually, the invite is not to judge at all, if it is possible. If you can, it would be lovely if you try to read them with openness and check what kind of reflections and feelings they create in you. And then, if you will want to share with us your sensations, you are welcome to leave us a comment. 😊
